Yes. A letter from a registered doctor is the document customs officers and airport security most often ask to see when you're carrying medicines. FastDoc letters are signed by GMC-registered UK doctors and list each medicine, dose and quantity, with the doctor's GMC registration number. Some countries also require a permit or approval in advance for certain medicines, so check your destination's rules before you travel.

Not always, but it's strongly recommended, especially if you're carrying injectable medicines, needles or syringes, medical devices, larger quantities, or medicines that are restricted in some countries. A doctor's letter shows the medicines are for your personal medical use and can help you avoid delays at customs or security.

No. FastDoc provides documentation only. We don't supply, sell or provide medicines of any kind. Our letters document medicines you already have, so you can travel with them confidently.

It should include your full name and date of birth, the medical condition the medicines are for, each medicine's name, dose and quantity, confirmation they're for your personal use, and the doctor's full name, signature and registration number. Every FastDoc letter includes all of these.

Rules vary by country. Japan, the UAE and Singapore, for example, require approval or a permit in advance for certain medicines, and many other countries limit the quantity you can bring for personal use. Check GOV.UK foreign travel advice and your destination's embassy before you travel.

Usually, yes. Airlines generally allow needles, syringes and injectable medicines in hand luggage when you have a doctor's letter confirming they're for your medical use. Tell your airline before you fly, as some ask for notice or have their own rules for medical equipment.

It depends on your destination. Many countries allow enough for personal use during your stay, often up to around 3 months' supply. For some medicines, taking 3 months' supply or more out of the UK needs a personal licence from the Home Office, so check GOV.UK before you travel.

Yes. The doctor can include multiple medicines on a single letter where they're all for your medical needs, subject to their review.

Yes. The letter supports your medicines but doesn't replace other requirements. Keep each medicine in its original packaging with its label showing your name. Together with your letter, that gives customs officers the clearest picture.

Yes. If your destination's embassy or your airline has its own medical form for a doctor to complete, our doctors can complete it as part of our Premium service. Choose Premium at checkout and let us know which form you need when you complete your request.

You choose your delivery speed at checkout. Same Day service delivers your letter the same day when you order before 8pm. Premium puts your request at the top of the queue, and letters are usually issued within 30-90 minutes for orders placed between 8am and 9pm, 7 days a week. Your letter is emailed as a PDF, ready to print.

No. FastDoc is designed for situations where getting a GP appointment before you travel isn't possible or practical. A GMC-registered UK doctor reviews your request based on the information you provide, and letters are issued only where the doctor can support them.

You'll be asked for each medicine's name, dose and the quantity you're travelling with, the medical condition it's for, and your destination and travel dates. Having your medicine packaging to hand makes this quicker.

Yes. You can request a letter from wherever you are, and it's emailed to you as a PDF to print or show on your phone.

Every FastDoc letter shows the doctor's full name, signature and GMC registration number, which anyone can check on the GMC's public register. The letter can also be confirmed using our letter verification page, or by emailing hello@fastdoc.co.uk.

If, following their review, the doctor can't support your request, they'll explain why and you'll receive a full refund. You're never charged for a letter that can't be issued.
